Today's Hebei University of Engineering is a merger of the former Hebei Institute of Architecture and Technology, North China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower (Handan), Handan Medical College and Handan Agricultural College. Among them, Hebei Institute of Architecture and Technology (formerly known as Hebei Institute of Coal Architecture and Engineering) was once a university directly under the former Ministry of Coal, and the former North China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower was a university directly under the former Ministry of Water Resources.
At present, Hebei University of Engineering has set up 87 undergraduate majors, forming a discipline layout that focuses on engineering and covers 11 disciplines.
The school has 15 first-class master's degree programs, including strong disciplines such as architecture, civil engineering, mining engineering, geological resources, geological engineering, water conservancy engineering in Huashui (Handan), agricultural engineering and clinical medicine in Handan Agricultural College.
From this point of view, the merger of the four universities has improved the level and level of running the original Handan Medical College and Handan Agricultural College. Of course, Handan Medical College has brought extremely valuable medical resources and a 3A affiliated hospital to Hebei University of Engineering. However, the merged Hebei University of Engineering did not get a first-class doctoral program, only 1 doctoral program-water resources and water environment regulation and comprehensive management.
