The Three Gorges University was approved by the Ministry of Education on May 25th, 2000, and was formed by the merger of the former Wuhan University of Water Resources and Electric Power (Yichang) and the former Hubei Three Gorges College. Co-built by the Ministry of Water Resources and Hubei Province, it was selected as the second batch of "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" of the Ministry of Education, the second phase project of basic capacity building in central and western universities, and the "domestic first-class university" of Hubei Province.
The former Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electric Power (Yichang) was formerly known as Gezhouba Hydropower Engineering College, which was established in 1978. It is subordinate to the Ministry of Water Resources and Electric Power, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Electric Power Industry and the State Power Company. 1996 merged with the former Wuhan University of Water Conservancy and Electric Power to form a new Wuhan University of Water Conservancy and Electric Power, which became an important part of "Project 2 1 1" to build a university. The former Hubei Three Gorges College was formed by the merger of Yichang Normal College, Yichang Medical College and Yichang Vocational College on 1996.
As of 20 17 and 12, the school covers an area of more than 3,000 mu, with a total construction area of10.4 million square meters and more than 40,000 teaching and research instruments and equipment, with a total equipment value of 556 million yuan. The library has more than 2.9 million paper books; * * * There are 22,293 full-time undergraduates in China, 4,266 doctoral and master students, and 1.365 international students; Postdoctoral research stations 1 each, 4 first-class doctoral programs, 25 first-class master programs, 2 master programs 1 each, and 23 master programs 13. There are 30 colleges and 72 undergraduate majors.
