Relevant regulations on changing majors after entering Nankai University

In order to expand students' learning autonomy, Nankai University allows freshmen to change majors after entering the school. The specific provisions are as follows:

First, students should love their major and gradually cultivate their interest in this major in the process of learning. But students are also allowed to change majors under the guidance of teachers. In order to control the proportion of students in each college (department), the number of transferred students in each academic year generally does not exceed 10% of the total number of majors in that grade.

Second, the requirements for changing majors:

(1) Students during the period of suspension, retention of school status or retention of admission qualification cannot change majors;

(2) Transfer from college (department) should try to meet the requirements of students changing majors. Transfer to a college (department) to apply for a comprehensive assessment of students and report it to the Academic Affairs Office for review;

(three) students who change their major need to extend their study life, according to the third chapter of these rules;

(4) Students can only change their major once;

(5) fresh graduates are not allowed to change majors;

(6) Freshmen are generally not allowed to change majors in the first semester;

(7) Commissioned training, with the consent of the entrusting unit, can turn to professional.

Third, the time and procedure for changing majors.

Students can submit a written application to their college (department) in April and May each year according to the number of places that each college (department) may accept for transfer students. After transferring to an institution (department) and carefully understanding the evaluation, report it to the Academic Affairs Office for examination and approval, and announce the list of students who agree to transfer to a major before the end of June.

Fourth, the conversion of credits for students majoring in transfer

After students change majors, they are generally included in the learning management of the same grade. If the original credits meet the requirements of the teaching plan for major transfer, they will be recognized after being transferred to the college (department) and the academic affairs office, and will be included in the compulsory or elective credits for major transfer, and other course credits will be included in the elective credits.

Five, transfer professional student scholarship related system.

Students who enjoy basic subject scholarships will be reimbursed if they switch to majors that do not enjoy basic subject scholarships. Students who are transferred to enjoy the basic subject scholarship will enjoy the basic subject scholarship from the date of transfer.

Six, the following professional students are not subject to the above conditions:

(1) Those who find that they can't study in their original major due to a certain disease or physical defect, but can still study in other majors of our school;

(2) confirmed by the college (department) where the student is located, the student has some special difficulties and cannot continue his studies without changing his major.

The above two types of students apply for changing majors by themselves, and their colleges (departments) put forward opinions. After research and decision by the Academic Affairs Office, the school arranged for them to study a major suitable for their further study.
