The University of Maryland at Park is the only large comprehensive public institution of higher learning in the Washington metropolitan area. Founded in 1856, it covers an area of 1250 mu, about 7,600 mu.
The Washington area is full of talents and elites, and the neighboring Maryland government also enjoys various resources. With its geographical advantages, teachers, students, visiting scholars and trainers of the University of Malaysia have extensive contacts with multinational organizations, non-governmental organizations and trade associations such as federal, state and local governments, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
The University of Maryland has established close research partnerships with many agencies of the US federal government. Many faculty members receive research funds from various research institutions, such as the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of National Defense, the Department of Energy and the National Institutes of Health.
