Jishou University Teachers College was formerly Jishou National Teachers College and Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture Education College. Jishou Normal School for Nationalities was founded in June, 1936, 1 1. It was originally named Xiangxi Special Zone Teachers' College, and the school is located on Aoyu Peak in the eastern suburb of Jishou City. 1938 was changed to Liguancheng Simple Rural Normal School in Hunan Province, and 194 1 year was changed to the Ninth Normal School in Hunan Province. 1953 changed its name to Xiangxi first national normal school, and 1962 changed its name to Jishou national normal school.
1968, the Revolutionary Committee of the Autonomous Prefecture cancelled Jishou Normal School for Nationalities, and the school was closed. 1970 resumed enrollment in the spring until 200 1 merged with Xiangxi Institute of Ethnic Education.
