Huazhong Agricultural University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), which is characterized by life sciences and has the coordinated development of agriculture, science, engineering, literature, law, economics and management. The national "double first-class" construction of colleges and universities, the national "2 1 1 project" and "985 engineering advantage discipline innovation platform" focus on the construction of colleges and universities.
The school's predecessor was Hubei Agricultural School founded by Zhang Zhidong, Governor of Huguang in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty, on 1898. After several evolutions, from 65438 to 0952, Huazhong Agricultural College was established in all departments of Agricultural College of Wuhan University, Hubei Agricultural College and some departments of Agricultural College of six comprehensive universities such as Sun Yat-sen University. 1985, renamed Huazhong Agricultural University. In 2000, it was placed under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Education from the Ministry of Agriculture. In 2005, it entered the national "2 1 1 project" construction ranks. 20 17 was listed in the national "double first-class" construction ranks.
The school campus is unique, surrounded by the Lion Mountain on three sides, with 5 square kilometers of landscape campus, 9 kilometers of romantic lakeside, 10 kilometers of "forest middle road" and 6.6 kilometers of lakeview greenway, with elegant environment. There are 17 colleges (departments), 63 undergraduate majors and 27 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degrees.
