The College of Science and Technology of Three Gorges University is a full-time undergraduate-level ordinary college with the record of the Ministry of Education and the approval of the Hubei Provincial Department of Education in September 2000. The Three Gorges University cooperates with Yichang Municipal People's Government and Yichang Education Industry Development Corporation to pilot it. Its predecessor was Yichang Branch of Three Gorges University. In February 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was confirmed as an independent college in ordinary universities. The College is located in Yichang, Hubei Province, the world hydropower capital and a famous tourist city in China, where the Three Gorges Project is located, covering an area of 885 mu. Relying on the discipline advantages of Three Gorges University, the college adopts a brand-new school-running mechanism and operation mode to cultivate practical and skilled senior talents and compound management talents. There are 27 undergraduate majors such as hydropower, electricity, machinery, economics, grammar, medicine, art and music, and 22 majors such as transmission line engineering technology, tourism English and numerical control technology. The college has 9504 students and 466 full-time teachers, among whom professors and associate professors account for 42%.
