Guangdong Astronomical Society has a Council, which is the highest decision-making body of the Society. The first president of the Association was Professor Lu Wen from Sun Yat-sen University. The second to fourth directors are Professor Zhong Ji from South China Normal University, and the deputy directors are Professor Wei Lizhen from South China Normal University, Professor Cui from Sun Yat-sen University, Professor Zhang Hui from Guangdong Satellite Observatory and Professor Yi from Jinan University. The fifth and sixth directors are Wei Lizhen of South China Normal University, the deputy directors are Cui of Sun Yat-sen University, Zhang Hui of Guangdong Satellite Observatory, Yi and Lin of Jinan University as the secretary-general and Comrade Chen Lingqiang as the deputy secretary-general. The seventh director is Wei Lizhen of South China Normal University, and the deputy directors are Fan Junhui of Guangzhou University and Lin of South China Normal University. The Council has a secretariat, with Lin as Secretary General and Xie Xianchun as Deputy Secretary General. The chairman of the eighth session is Fan Junhui of Guangzhou University, and the vice chairmen are Guangzhou University, Peng Qingyu of Jinan University and Lin of South China Normal University. The Secretary-General is Xie Xianchun from the School of Geographical Sciences of Guangzhou University. There are research department, propaganda department, popular science department and development department. The permanent organization is the Standing Council, and its office is located in Guangzhou University.
