The postgraduate entrance examination of applied psychology in East China Normal University is very good and very difficult. At present, there are four departments in the school, namely Earth Science Department, Education Department, Economics and Management Department and Information Department.

As of March, 2002 1 year, the school has 30 first-class disciplines authorized by doctoral degrees, 35 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degrees, 21master's and doctoral degrees in education, 26 post-doctoral research stations and 85 undergraduate majors. It has two national first-class key disciplines, five national second-class key disciplines and five national key cultivation disciplines.

There are 12 A-level disciplines evaluated by the Ministry of Education in the fourth round, 6 Shanghai peak disciplines (2 I, 2 II and 2 IV), 2 Shanghai key disciplines 12 and 7 Shanghai first-level disciplines 13b (4 A,13b).

The school has 4,422 faculty members, including 2,379 full-time teachers. There are 208 professors and other teachers with senior titles1person, including 288 academicians of China Academy of Sciences and China Academy of Engineering (including double-employed academicians)1person, and 288 people are selected by the national and other talent programs.
