1. The Chinese College of Jinan University was approved by the Ministry of Education and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council on June 1993, and was merged into Jinan University by Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Tutorial School, and then merged with the Department of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and Preparatory College of Jinan University. The Chinese Language Institute has long been committed to Chinese education and teaching Chinese as a foreign language. It is a specialized college of Jinan University to carry out Chinese education, teaching Chinese as a foreign language and preparatory education in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and overseas. The college takes "faith and respect" as its motto and strives to provide students with high-quality education courses.

The Chinese Language Institute was identified as a "Chinese Education Base" by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council; Designated by the Ministry of Education as "National Base for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language" and "Key University for Supporting Chinese Teaching in Neighbouring Countries", and jointly established "Overseas Chinese Research Center" with the Language and Character Information Management Department of the Ministry of Education; The undergraduate major of "Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language" set up by the college has won the famous brand major in Guangdong Province; At present, the College is the primary, intermediate and advanced examination center of Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK), the Hanban Certificate Examination Center for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, the China University Joint Examination Center and the main examination centers of Jinan University and Huaqiao University.

The College currently has eight departments, institutes and centers, namely Chinese Department, Applied Linguistics Department, Chinese Education Department, Overseas Chinese Research Center, Chinese Education Research Institute, Preparatory Department, Correspondence Department and Network and Education Technology Center. The college attaches great importance to the quality of teaching.
