The rank of college students after enlistment is comprehensively evaluated according to their identity (such as students and graduates), service arms, post nature of the army, service years of soldiers, personal performance and other factors. Under normal circumstances, undergraduate graduates are generally awarded the rank of private after joining the army.

The state has given many preferential policies to college students to join the army. For example, some places implement the policy of "promoting outstanding college students to serve as soldiers" for college graduates. Qualified college graduates have the opportunity to be directly promoted to officers after a certain period of training and examination.
