Exchange students pay their own expenses. Exchange programs include reciprocal arrangements between the two schools, but not all schools have enough funds to fund students to go to other countries. In order to ensure the sustainability of the project, participating students or their families need to bear part of the cost. The international student exchange program began after World War II. At present, students from more than 60 countries and regions around the world participate in exchange programs every year to exchange students with each other. The State Council officially approved China to join the international student exchange program 1995. Its content is to recruit outstanding students from China to study in American high schools every year. When choosing to participate in the exchange program, students and families should carefully consider all the expenses, including tuition, accommodation, transportation, living expenses, insurance and others.
