School of Water Resources and Hydropower of Wuhan University is a secondary college under Wuhan University. College started from 1928, Water Conservancy Group, Department of Civil Engineering, Wuhan University;

School of Water Conservancy of Wuhan University was established in1952;

1954, the State Council approved the establishment of Wuhan Institute of Water Conservancy;

1958 was renamed Wuhan institute of water resources and electric power;

1993 was renamed Wuhan University of Water Resources and Electric Power;

In 2000, four universities merged to form the new Wuhan University, and the former Wuhan University of Water Conservancy and Electric Power's Department of Hydraulic Engineering, Department of Hydropower Engineering, Department of Water Resources and River Engineering, and Research Institute of Water Conservancy and Hydropower were integrated to form the School of Water Conservancy and Hydropower.
