The school is located in Anshan City, Liaoning Province, the steel capital of the motherland, covering an area of 1.84 million square meters. In addition, all educational projects in China require formal titles/full names, and abbreviations and nicknames confirmed by non-competent departments in the form of official documents are not allowed. For example, the basic capacity-building project of colleges and universities in the midwest is called "Xiao 2 1 1 project", which is listed here. The basic capacity building project of universities in the central and western regions is not what the Ministry of Education calls "Xiao 2 1658" (including its official documents).
