Fudan University was founded in 1905, formerly known as Fudan College. The word "Fudan" was chosen by Mr. Ma, the founder of the school and a famous educator in modern China, from the famous sentence "Sun and Moon are bright, Fudan is brilliant" in The Great Biography of Shangshu. 19 17 was changed to a private Fudan university, which consists of three subjects: arts, science and business, as well as preparatory courses and middle schools. 1937 After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, the school moved to Beibei, Chongqing, and 194 1 was changed to "national". 1946 moved back to the original site of Jiangwan, Shanghai. From 65438 to 0952, it has become a comprehensive science university and a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education through the adjustment of national universities. With the hard work and hard struggle of several generations of Fudan people, Fudan has gradually developed into a multi-disciplinary research-oriented comprehensive university, including humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, technical sciences and management sciences, since the 1980s, especially through the joint construction of the Ministry of Education and Shanghai and the key construction of the Seventh Five-Year Plan, the Eighth Five-Year Plan and the Ninth Five-Year Plan. On April 27th, 2000, Shanghai Medical University merged with Fudan University to form a new Fudan University. Today's Fudan University has more complete disciplines and stronger comprehensive strength.
