Zhejiang University, referred to as "Zhejiang University", is directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), and directly under the central government. It ranks among the first batch of "2 1 1 project", "985 project" and "world-class university and first-class discipline". Members of Nine Universities Alliance (C9), Pacific Rim University Alliance, World University Alliance, International Applied Science and Technology Development Cooperation Network, China University Presidents Association, New Engineering Education International Alliance, Global Energy Internet University Alliance, CDIO Engineering Education Alliance, and Medical "Double First-class" Construction Alliance were selected into the Everest Plan, the 201Plan, and the Academic Innovation and Intelligence Introduction Plan of Colleges and Universities.
There are also excellent engineer education and training programs, excellent doctor education and training programs, excellent legal talents education and training programs, excellent agricultural and forestry talents education and training programs, China government scholarships for foreign students in China, national high-level university graduate programs, and the first batch of demonstration universities in China to deepen innovation and entrepreneurship education reform. It is one of the earliest new institutions of higher learning founded by the people of China, and it is a comprehensive national key university. It was once called "Oriental Cambridge" by Joseph Needham, a famous British scholar.
