I. Orientation of running a school
Relying on the advantages of electronic information industry in the Pearl River Delta and the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the School of Electronic Information of South China University of Technology conducts scientific research, personnel training and social services for major national strategic related fields such as artificial intelligence, 5G communication, big data, Internet of Things, integrated circuits, healthy China and intelligent manufacturing. Focusing on the whole process of information technology (IT) such as information detection, information transmission, information processing and information service, and its software and hardware realization, we will cultivate top-notch innovative talents in electronic information specialty to meet the development requirements of the new era.
Second, the characteristics of running schools
The college has a long history and a strong accumulation of running schools.
The Institute of Electronic Information, whose predecessor was the Department of Telecommunication Engineering, was founded in 1952, and it is one of the six engineering colleges that recruit electronic majors in China. 1956, Chengdu Institute of Telecommunications Engineering (now University of Electronic Science and Technology of China) was established on the basis of this department, and most teachers and students were transferred to Chengdu. 1958, South China University of Technology reopened the Department of Telecommunication Engineering; 1960 read radio department. The founders of the college are Professor Feng Bingquan, a famous electronic expert and educator in China (who participated in the "two bombs and one satellite" project and was called "Nanfeng Beimeng" in the electronic field with Professor Meng of Tsinghua), Professor Xu (former vice president of South China University of Technology) and Academician Lin (the first dean).

The frontier of teaching reform: the teaching reform of our college won the second prize of national teaching achievement for three consecutive years (2065 438+08- the eighth session-exploration and practice of cultivating innovative and entrepreneurial talents of electronic information specialty under the strategy of innovation leading; 20 14- seventh issue-theoretical exploration and reform practice of innovative engineering talents training for electronic information specialty; 2009-Sixth Session-Exploration and Practice of Electronic Information Professional Training Mode in Research Universities).
Educational achievements: In recent years, undergraduates in our college have won 257 awards at or above the provincial level, such as the highest prize in the national embedded competition for college students, the special prize in the national challenge cup for college students and the highest prize in the international mathematical modeling competition for college students. For six consecutive years, the employment rate of undergraduates 100%, and all previous graduates have been highly praised by employers.
Outstanding alumni: For more than half a century, the College has adhered to the tradition of practicing innovative education, and trained famous scholars, technical backbones and high-quality management talents for the development of China's electronic information industry, such as Academician Meng Zhizhong, a meteorological satellite expert from China, Dean of BiMBA Business School of National Development Research Institute of Peking University, President Li Dongsheng of TCL, founder of Skyworth, Chairman of Yuyang Holding Board (former vice chairman of Konka Group), Chairman Yi of Qixi Group and Chairman of Lehman Optoelectronics.

Teaching resources: Institute of Electronic Information has 3 national top-quality courses, 2 national top-quality courses, 2 national characteristic courses, National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center 1 each, National Experimental Zone for Talent Training Mode Innovation 1 each, National Integrated Circuit Talent Training Base 1 each, National Engineering Practice Education Center 1 each and national teaching.
Scientific research: around the major national demand, it has reached the domestic leading level in many frontier research fields, and its achievements have been widely used in leading enterprises in Huawei and other industries. For example, the research on millimeter wave and terahertz technology for 5G/6G has been approved as a national key research and development project; Mobile ultrasonic testing was approved by National Engineering Technology Research Center; A series of breakthroughs have been made in the field of artificial intelligence, including the successful transformation and application of human data perception won the second prize of national technological invention, handwriting recognition and robotics; The integrated communication network of land, sea and air was approved as a national key project. Experimental conditions: The undergraduate experimental teaching center of our college has an undergraduate teaching laboratory of 26 1.5 square meters and undergraduate teaching experimental equipment worth 3 1.39 million yuan, with first-class equipment conditions. The college also has 1 national engineering centers, 7 provincial key laboratories and engineering centers, which provide full support for undergraduate extracurricular innovation practice.
Industry cooperation: the talent training of the college has been strongly supported by the industry. At present, it has cooperated with leading enterprises in the information industry such as TCL, China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, ZTE, Jingxin Communication, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group, China Southern Power Grid, China PICC, Microsoft Research Asia, Samsung Guangzhou Research Institute, Lehman Optoelectronics, Shantou Ultrasound Electronics, Desai Electronics, Guangzhou Vision Electronics, Zhongxing Microelectronics, Zhuhai Quan Zhi, Taidou Microelectronics and An Kai Microelectronics.
Faculty: The college has a high-level academic team with young and middle-aged teachers as the main body, including full-time teachers 133 and doctoral teachers 124 (accounting for 93.2%). International cooperation: the college has extensive international cooperation. Cooperate with Paris Institute of Technology and the Institute of Technology of Nantes University, France, and set up the 3+2 French elite class of information engineering. At the same time, we have carried out 2+2 projects and 3+2 projects with famous foreign universities such as Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Missouri, Rutgers University, University of New South Wales, University of Queensland, University of Western Australia, Sydney University of Technology, Waseda University in Japan and Lin Xueping University in Sweden for a long time.
