Brief Introduction of School of Communication and Design, Sun Yat-sen University
The School of Communication and Design of Sun Yat-sen University was established in May 2003, and its president is Hu Shuli. The college is located in the campus of Sun Yat-sen University, Panyu District, Guangzhou. After years of development, the School of Communication and Design has four departments (centers), including journalism department, public communication department, creative media design department and interactive design center, and four research institutions, including Sun Yat-sen University's All Media Research Institute, Sun Yat-sen University's Public Communication Research Institute, Sun Yat-sen University's Industrial Art Visual Culture Research Institute and School of Communication and Design's Public Communication Research Institute. There are five undergraduate majors in journalism, government communication, public relations, network and new media, and video communication. Master of journalism and communication, two masters of design art and public relations, and two masters of journalism practice and interactive design.

At present, the total number of undergraduates, masters and doctoral students (including students from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao and foreign students) in the School of Communication and Design is nearly 1.200. The graduates of the School of Communication and Design are famous for their wide knowledge, wide interests, strong adaptability and solid professional basic skills, and many graduates have become the new force in the industry.

There are 47 full-time faculty members in the School of Communication and Design, including 9 professors (4 doctoral supervisors), 8 associate professors (1 doctoral supervisors) and 9 lecturers. We also hired a group of experienced and knowledgeable well-known experts (Pan Zhongdang, a professor at the University of Wisconsin, Chen, a professor at Communication University of China, and Zhan Jiang, a professor at Beijing Foreign Studies University) and professionals as part-time professors.

Since Ms. Hu Shuli, an internationally renowned journalist, became the president of our college, the college has made clear the discipline direction of developing new media news communication as its own responsibility, and is moving towards the strategic planning of college development with a global vision and facing the future. The current dean is Professor Zhang Zhian.
