Harbin Institute of Technology (hereinafter referred to as Harbin Institute of Technology), headquartered in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and ranks among the national "double-class", "985 Project", "2 1 1 Project", nine major alliances, Pacific Rim University Alliance, China University Presidents Association, University of Excellence Alliance and Global Energy Internet University Alliance.

Founding members of Sino-Russian Engineering University Alliance, China-Spanish University Alliance, China Artificial Intelligence Education Association, and National Military Academy Curriculum Ideological and Political Alliance, they were selected into Everest Plan, Strong Foundation Plan, 201Plan,1Plan, Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan, National Innovative Experiment Plan for College Students, and National Construction High School.

The new engineering research and practice project, the China government scholarship for overseas students in China, and the national demonstration universities for deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education are the first batch of universities with graduate schools and graduate degrees, and the first batch of degree authorization independent audit units.

The school was founded in 1920, and its name is Harbin Sino-Russian Industrial School. After the period of China-Russia University of Technology and East Special Zone University of Technology, it was officially named Harbin Institute of Technology on 1928. 195 1 was identified as one of the two model universities in China to learn from foreign higher education.

1954 entered the first batch of six key universities in China. 1996 entered the first batch of key construction universities in the national "2 1 1 project". 1999 was identified as one of the first nine universities in the "985 Project". In 2000, it merged with Harbin Jianzhu University to form the new Harbin Institute of Technology.

As of May 2022, the school has three campuses in Harbin, Weihai and Shenzhen. The campus area is 5,654,200 square meters and the building area is 3,550,800 square meters. There are 22 colleges with 107 undergraduate majors. Full-time teachers 4 1 10, students 5590 1.
