Guizhou minzu university, affiliated to Guizhou Provincial People's Government, is one of the earliest universities for nationalities established in New China. It is a key university in Guizhou Province, a university jointly established by the Guizhou Provincial People's Government and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, an excellent branch of the Ministry of Education for undergraduate teaching level evaluation, and a university for foreign students who receive scholarships from the China Municipal Government. It is supported by East China Normal University and South China University of Technology. The school was founded in May 195 1 17, formerly known as Guizhou Institute for Nationalities, and was renamed guizhou minzu university with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Guizhou Provincial People's Government in October/February.
This is a public university. The school motto is self-improvement and all-round development. As of March 20 16, the school has 22 colleges, 1 graduate schools and 1 independent colleges, with 74 undergraduate majors and 28 undergraduate majors. The school has two campuses, Huaxi District of Guiyang City and University Town of Gui 'an New District.
