Fujian Normal University, a national high-level university, has a higher grade and better comprehensive strength. The school's predecessor was the Fujian Excellent Normal School founded by the Qing Emperor Chen Yu 1907, and it was one of the earliest normal universities in China. Fujian Normal University was founded in 1953, and 1972 was renamed as Fujian Normal University.
