The predecessor of our school can be traced back to the two-level normal school run by the Zhejiang provincial government, which was founded in 1908. 19 13 was renamed as Zhejiang No.1 Normal School, and 1978 was approved by the State Council to establish Hangzhou Normal College. Since 2000, Hangzhou Education College and Hangzhou Medical College have merged to form a new Hangzhou Normal College. In 2007, the school was renamed Hangzhou Normal University.
The school has now developed into a comprehensive normal university with humanities, society, science and medicine as the main subjects. Normal education and art education have their own characteristics, humanities and social sciences have certain advantages, science is good at some disciplines, and various emerging disciplines develop in harmony.
In 20001year, the school passed the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level of the Ministry of Education, and in 2007, it passed the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level of the Ministry of Education, and achieved excellent results.
The school is located in the famous historical and cultural city of Hangzhou, with campuses such as Xiasha, Wen Yi Road, Yuhuangshan and Gudangwan, covering an area of nearly 1.400 mu and a school building area of 700,000 square meters. The planned Zangqian new campus covers an area of 3,250 mu, and the Hu Xiang campus covers an area of 558 mu. The total value of teaching instruments and equipment in the school is 276 million yuan, and the library has 253.438+0.2 million books.

The school was awarded the right to 1982 bachelor's degree, 1998 master's degree and the right to evaluate the qualification of associate professor in 2004. The school has 20 colleges and 2 basic teaching departments, and established Qianjiang College, a state-owned private independent college. The school has 54 undergraduate majors, 39 master's degree authorized disciplines, 3 professional master's degree authorized points and a master's degree program in Chinese-foreign cooperative education and leadership approved by the the State Council Academic Degrees Committee Office. 1 "top priority" discipline, 8 provincial key disciplines; 1 provincial key research base of humanities and social sciences and 1 provincial key base of teacher education; 5 national specialties and 15 provincial key specialties; 1 national quality courses, 2 1 provincial quality courses.
The school has several key laboratories, such as the key laboratory of the Ministry of Education and the provincial basic course teaching experiment demonstration center. The school has undertaken a large number of scientific research projects including the national "863" plan, the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" key projects, the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Philosophy and Social Science Foundation.
The school publishes journals such as Journal of Hangzhou Normal University, Journal of Hangzhou Normal University and New Garden of Chinese Language. Among them, Journal of Hangzhou Normal University is an excellent journal in East China, which is listed as the national core journal of humanities and social sciences and won the title of "National Top 100 Social Sciences Journals" for three consecutive years. In 2008, Journal of Hangzhou Normal University (Social Science Edition) was selected as the national core Chinese periodical.
