National Southwest Associated University is a famous university that has been fighting against China. It is composed of National Peking University, National Tsinghua University and private Nankai University, which is referred to as National Southwest Associated University for short. These schools themselves are northern schools, and it should be logical to move back after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War.

The establishment of National Southwest Associated University reflected the importance attached by the national government to cultural undertakings at that time, and also showed the important role played by China intellectuals in government decision-making at that time. During the period of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in 8 years, there were more than 10 universities that moved from the mainland to Yunnan, among which the most famous was the National Southwest Associated University. 1937, Peking University, Tsinghua University and Nankai University first moved to Changsha, Hunan, and established Changsha Temporary University. /kloc-0 moved westward to Kunming in April, 1938, and was renamed as National Southwest Associated University, with five colleges and 26 departments of arts, science, law, business, engineering and normal university. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the National Southwest Associated University was dissolved on 1946, and the three universities moved back to Beijing and Tianjin respectively. Only the Teachers College stayed in Yunnan, the predecessor of Yunnan Normal University.
