Beijing Jiaotong University, founded in 1896 and located in Beijing, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of China. Established jointly by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport, the Beijing Municipal People's Government and China Railway Corporation, it ranks among the advantages of "2 1 1 project" 985. This school has been selected as a member of Beijing High-tech University Alliance and China-China Jiaotong University Alliance successively, including "Innovation Ability Enhancement Plan of Colleges and Universities", "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan", National Postgraduate Plan for Building High-level Universities, New Engineering Research and Practice Plan, Scholarship for Chinese Students from Government, etc.

The predecessor of Beijing Jiaotong University can be traced back to Beijing Institute of Railway Management, which was founded in 1896. Experienced the school-running period of Railway Management College, Beijing Branch of Jiaotong University and Beijing Jiaotong University. 192 1 merged with Shanghai institute of technology and Tangshan institute of technology to form jiaotong university. 1923 changed its name to Beijing jiaotong university. 1970, restore the name of "Northern Jiaotong University". 198 1 became the first batch of doctoral, master's and bachelor's degree awarding units in China.
