There are five colleges directly under the Ministry of Public Security, namely People's Public Security University of China, People's Police University of China, China Criminal Police College, Nanjing Police College and Zhengzhou Police College.

The People's Public Security University of China, referred to as the Public Security University, is located in Beijing. It is an ordinary institution of higher learning directly under the Ministry of Public Security and a senior police officer college of the Ministry of Public Security. It is a national "world-class discipline construction university" and "excellent legal talent education and training plan" pilot university and a comprehensive university in the public security industry.
The People's Public Security University of China, founded in July 1948, is a training course for security cadres in North China held by the Central Committee in Jianping County (now Pingshan County) in Hebei Liberated Area. After that, it experienced the development stages of North China Public Security Cadre School, Central Public Security Cadre School, Central People's Public Security College, Central Political and Legal Cadre School and Central People's Public Security College.
From 65438 to 0984, the Central People's Public Security College was transformed into a full-time ordinary institution of higher learning, and the People's Public Security University of China was established. 1February 1998 merged with China People's Police Officers University to form a new Chinese People's Public Security University. In 2000, Beijing Traffic People's Police School of the Ministry of Communications was merged into the school.

China Criminal Police College, located in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, is an undergraduate college directly under the Ministry of Public Security.
The school's predecessor was Northeast Police Technical Training Brigade, which was founded in May 1948. 1949 changed to Northeast Public Security Cadre School; 1954 was renamed the Central People's Police Cadre School; 1954 The Chongqing Laboratory Training Course of the Ministry of Public Security was merged with Shanghai Institute of Criminal Science and Technology; 1956 was renamed the First People's Police Cadre School of the Ministry of Public Security.
