Xiamen University (XMU for short) was founded in 192 1 year by Chen Jiageng, a famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader. It is the first university founded by overseas Chinese in the history of modern education in China. ? The school has Siming Campus, Zhangzhou Campus, Xiang 'an Campus and Malaysia Branch, as well as graduate schools, 6 departments, 33 colleges (directly affiliated departments) and 16 research institutes.

There are more than 44,000 students in the school, including 20,000 undergraduates, 8,000 postgraduates/kloc-0 and 5,000 doctoral students.

The school's internal quality assurance system was selected as one of the UNESCO's "excellent principles and innovative practice research cases of internal quality assurance in higher education", and it is the only university in China and East Asia. The school won the first prize 1 and the second prize 15 in the sixth, seventh and eighth national higher education teaching achievement selection.

The college covers 12 disciplines, including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, medicine, management, art and interdisciplinary subjects. There are five first-class disciplines and nine national key disciplines in two disciplines. 32 post-doctoral mobile stations; 37 doctoral degrees are authorized as first-class disciplines.
