Northwest University for Nationalities is located at the foot of Gaolan Mountain in Chengguan District, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province. The four seasons of the college are lush, with lush flowers and trees. The environment is very elegant, and the buildings with national style are patchwork. Northwest University for Nationalities is one of the subordinate institutions of higher learning for nationalities under the leadership of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission. It is also the first national institution of higher learning established under the care of the Party and the government after the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC). Northwest University for Nationalities was founded in August 1950. Northwest University for Nationalities has gone through four stages since its establishment 40 years ago: the first stage is 1950 to 1957. At present, the college has developed into a comprehensive national institution of higher learning with a variety of disciplines, such as literature, science, agriculture, medicine, economics, art, postgraduate, undergraduate, junior college, technical secondary school, preparatory course, dry training and so on.
