The main source of the school can be traced back to Sanjiang Normal School founded in 1902, which is one of the birthplaces of higher normal education in China. After that, it went through Liangjiang Excellent Normal School, Nanjing Higher Normal School, National Southeast University, National Fourth Sun Yat-sen University, Jiangsu University, National Central University and National Nanjing University.
Its other source is Huiwen Academy founded by 1888, which later developed into Jinling University. 195 1 merged with Jinling Women's College of Arts and Sciences (formerly known as Jinling Women's University) to form a public Jinling University. 1952 National college departments were adjusted, and Nanjing Normal University was established on the basis of the former Nanjing University, public Jinling University and other related departments, and the school site was located in the former Jinling Women's University.
