Southwestern University of Finance and Economics is located in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. People's Republic of China (PRC) is directly under the Ministry of Education. It is one of the first "double first-class" world-class discipline construction universities in China.

1997 became the national "2 1 1 project" key construction university. In 2000, it was handed over to the Ministry of Education as an independent organization. 20 1 1 has become the national "985 project" dominant discipline to build an innovative platform for colleges and universities. With a history of more than 90 years, it has formed its own unique school-running characteristics, cultural traditions, spiritual connotation and social reputation.

As of June 20 17, the school has jurisdiction over Guanghua Campus and Liulin Campus. There are 33 undergraduate majors, 26 colleges (centers, departments) and other teaching units. It is a national key university focusing on economic management and finance, and is known as "China Financial Talent Pool".
