Hunan Normal University, referred to as "Hunan Normal University", is located in Changsha City, Hunan Province. Selected into the first batch of national "2 1 1 project" key universities, national "double-class" universities, and "double-class" universities built by the Ministry of Education and key provinces in Hunan Province, and selected into the national "66", excellent legal talents education and training plan and excellent doctoral education and training plan.

Excellent teacher training program, national high-level university construction graduate program, national college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training program, national demonstration colleges for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, scholarship receiving institutions of China government for overseas students, demonstration base for studying in China by the Ministry of Education, and national college students' cultural quality education base. It is an important member of international organizations such as Cumulus and the Belt and Road Think Tank Cooperation Alliance.

Founded in 1938, the school is the first independent normal college for nationalities in China. At the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the National Teachers College was merged into Hunan University. 1In August, 953, the national departments were adjusted, Hunan University was abolished, and Hunan Normal University was established. 1984, the school was renamed Hunan Normal University.

As of August 2022, the school has 7 campuses, covering an area of nearly 3,000 mu, with a building area of 1, 3 1, 000 square meters, and the library has more than 4 1, 000 books. There are 24 colleges and 89 undergraduate majors. There are 20 post-doctoral research stations, and 2 1 doctoral degree is authorized as a first-level discipline.
