Zhejiang University has a history of 1 15 years. Zhu Kezhen was the first president of the former university. The predecessor of Zhejiang University was Qiushi Academy founded by Qi Lin, the magistrate of Hangzhou, in the 23rd year of Guangxu reign of Qing Dynasty (1897). It is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning in modern Zhejiang.

1928, named National Zhejiang University. During the Anti-Japanese War, Zhejiang University moved westward and ran schools in Zunyi and Meitan of Guizhou for seven years. 1946 moved back to Hangzhou in autumn.

1952, when the departments of colleges and universities in China were adjusted, most of the departments in Zhejiang were transferred to brother universities and Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the main parts left in Hangzhou were divided into several single-subject colleges, which later developed into the original Zhejiang University, Hangzhou University, Zhejiang Agricultural University and Zhejiang Medical University respectively.

From 65438 to 0998, four universities with the same roots merged to form the new Zhejiang University, and then embarked on a new journey to create a world-class university.
