Software College of Zhejiang University, formerly known as Software and Network College of Zhejiang University, was established in Hangzhou and Ningbo on February 27th, 20001.In February, it became one of the first batch of 35 national demonstration software colleges approved by the Ministry of Education and the State Planning Commission, and was renamed as Software College of Zhejiang University.

The National Model Software College of Zhejiang University consists of the headquarters of Zhejiang University Software College and Zhejiang University (Ningbo) Software College. Headquartered in Yuquan Campus of Zhejiang University, it mainly trains undergraduates. Software Institute (Ningbo) is located in Ningbo National High-tech Zone, which mainly trains graduate students. By April, 2007, Software College of Zhejiang University had formed two campuses, 15 departments, 19 professional directions and the scale of more than 2,000 students. In 2006, the college passed the acceptance evaluation of the Model Software College of the Ministry of Education with excellent results.
