The school's predecessor was 1956 Changchun Urban Construction Engineering School founded by the Ministry of Urban Construction. It is the first secondary specialized school of civil engineering in Jilin Province and one of the first ten specialized schools of architecture established in New China. 1960 was upgraded to an undergraduate college, and "Jilin Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture" was formally established, becoming the only civil engineering undergraduate college in Jilin Province. 1962 under the background of the implementation of the "eight-character" policy of national economic adjustment, Jilin Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture closed down and changed back to secondary school. 1978 65438+February, with the approval of the State Council, the school was renamed as Jilin Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture. After the undergraduate course was resumed, the school took effective measures to actively enrich and improve the conditions for running schools, vigorously strengthen the construction of teaching staff, accelerate the construction of disciplines and specialties, and continuously deepen the teaching reform. The infrastructure of the school is perfect. In order to further expand the school space and meet the requirements of the ever-expanding school scale, the school purchased about 700,000 square meters of land in Changchun Jingyue Tourism Economic Development Zone in 2005 to build a new campus. Now, some planning and construction tasks have been completed and put into use.
