Shanghai dianji university University is an ordinary institution of higher learning that faces advanced manufacturing and modern service industries, focuses on engineering, and has the coordinated development of economy, management, literature and art; Selected as a pilot unit of postgraduate degree in "Serving the National Special Needs Talents Training Project";

It is the vice chairman of the pilot unit alliance of "Serving the National Special Needs Master Training Project" and a member of CDIO Engineering Education Alliance. Founded in 1953, the school was established by the former Electrical Industry Administration of the First Ministry of Machinery Industry, and was composed of some teachers and students from Shanghai Middle School, Shanghai Industrial School and National Shanghai Advanced Mechanical Vocational School.
The school, formerly known as Shanghai Electric Appliance Manufacturing School, has experienced the development and evolution of Shanghai Electric Machine Manufacturing School, Shanghai Electric Machine Manufacturing Technology College and Shanghai Electric Machine Technology College. 1985 school held the first batch of five-year junior college education in China, and was listed as a national key construction higher vocational college in 2002.
In 2004, Shanghai Electromechanical Industry School and Shanghai Electromechanical Industry Workers College merged to run a school; In September of the same year, the school was renamed shanghai dianji university and upgraded to a full-time undergraduate college.
As of June 2022 10, the school has two campuses, Lingang and Minhang, with a campus area of 1 147 mu; There are 14 secondary teaching units, offering 43 undergraduate majors and 7 specialist majors; There are 1 first-level discipline master degree authorization points and 5 professional degree authorization categories; There are nearly13,000 full-time graduate students, undergraduates and junior college students, and 878 full-time teachers.
