The Marxist College of Shihezi University, formerly known as the Ideological and Political Department of Shihezi University, was formed by the merger of the Marxist-Leninist Department of Shihezi Agricultural College, Shihezi Medical College, Corps Normal College and Corps Economic College when Shihezi University was founded. 20 12 March, the School of Marxism of Shihezi University was established.

The College adheres to the distinct orientation and school-running principle of "Ma Yuan's surname is Ma, and Ma Yan's surname is Ma", and adheres to the school-running concept of "educating people with the spirit of the Corps and serving for maintaining stability and guarding the border", which has played its due role in consolidating the guiding position of Marxism in the ideological field, promoting Marxism into the classroom, teaching materials and students' minds, and cultivating a large number of socialist builders and successors in the new era who are rooted in and dedicated to the frontier.

College is an independent secondary institution for teaching and research of ideological and political theory courses under the leadership of directly affiliated schools. The teaching facilities and environment of the college are good, and there are administrative and teaching auxiliary institutions such as party and government offices, teaching and research offices and reference rooms.

There are teaching and research departments such as the basic principles of Marxism, the theoretical system of Mao Zedong Thought and Socialism with Chinese characteristics, the outline of China's modern history, ideology and morality and the rule of law, the concise course of Xinjiang's local history, situation and policy, and teaching and research institutions such as the History Department of Shihezi University, the Socialism with Chinese characteristics Theoretical System Research Center, and the Frontier Development and Security Governance Institute.
