English major was founded in 1930s, and has made brilliant achievements in the development of nearly 80 years. This major is one of the first master's degree authorization points in China. Was awarded 1996 provincial key discipline, 200 1 provincial key discipline, doctor's degree in 2000, famous brand specialty of Shandong University in 2002, key discipline of Shandong Province in 2006, famous brand specialty of Shandong Province in 2007 and characteristic specialty construction project of Ministry of Education in 2008. This major is divided into English Department and Applied English Department. The English Department undertakes the teaching tasks of English language and literature, and the Applied English Department undertakes the teaching tasks of scientific English, business English and double-degree classes. Some students of English for Science and Technology are recruited from science candidates. English majors are jointly enrolled with law schools, political science and public management, and have double degrees of "English+Law" and "English+International Politics".
