Northwest University, founded in 185 1, is a private research university located in Evanston, Illinois, USA. It is a founding member of the Top Ten Alliance and a member of association of american universities. The official mascot is Wildcat Willie.

Northwest University was founded by Mr. John Evans in 1960. Its main campus is located on the shore of Lake Michigan in the suburb of Evanston, Illinois, near Chicago, the third largest city in the United States. Journalism school, business school, law school and medical school are all located in downtown Chicago.

Northwest University was founded by Methodist Christians in Chicago in 185 1. 1855 officially put into operation, there were two teachers and ten students. The nine founders of the school, all Methodists, knelt down and prayed before the first organizational meeting. The name of this university comes from the desire of its founders to serve the people of the former northwest States.

These states are parts of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. 1855 there is only one temporary building in Evanston campus.

The first official permanent building is the University Hall built in 1869. During the period of 1920, Northwest University built the Chicago campus for the masters of law, medicine and business school in Chicago.
