Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, located in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, is a key university in Guangdong Province with distinctive international characteristics. It has been selected into the National "20 1 1 Plan", the National Postgraduate Program for Building High-level Universities, the National College Students' Cultural Quality Education Base, the Demonstration Base for Studying in China by the Ministry of Education, and the Guangdong "2 1 Plan".

It is a joint member of China Cooperation University, CIUTI and FIT, and the first unit of the World Translation Education Alliance (WITTA), an extension plan of the United Nations to train high-end translators.

By February, 2022, there were 2 166 faculty members and 0/380 full-time teachers, of which 55.07% were senior titles and 96.3% were master's degree or above. Among the teachers, there are 14 members of the Professional Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, including 55 people who enjoy the special government allowance of the State Council, 5 people who have been selected as national cultural masters and "Four Groups" talent engineers, 2 people who have been selected as young talents for propaganda and ideological culture in Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, and 3 people who have been selected as leading talents in philosophy and social sciences under the "Ten Thousand Talents Program".

Four people were selected for the "Hundred Million Talents Project", 13 people were selected for the "New Century Excellent Talents Support Program" of the Ministry of Education, 1 people were funded by the "High-end Foreign Experts" program of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, and 3 people were funded by the "Foreign Youth Program" of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
