Northwest University for Nationalities (hereinafter referred to as "Northwest University for Nationalities"), located in Jincheng and Lanzhou, is the first university for nationalities founded after the founding of New China. It is a university directly under the central government under the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, and it is also one of the universities selected by the "Key Plan for Ethnic Minorities" and one of the first batch of pilot universities for the reform of the national education and training plan for outstanding agricultural and forestry talents.

Key specialty

The school has 19 provincial and ministerial key disciplines. Among them, the State Ethnic Affairs Committee has seven key disciplines: China ethnic minority economy, Marxist ethnic theory and policy, computer application technology, sociology, applied mathematics, law and traditional ethnic sports; 12 Key construction disciplines in Gansu Province: ethnology, China language and literature, China history, computer science and technology, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, religion, folklore, Gesar studies, Marxist theory, education and fine arts. The school has the innovation team of the Ministry of Education: the animal medicine bioengineering innovation team and 10 school-level innovation team.

Teaching achievement

From 2000 to 20 12, the school won the second prize of National Teaching Achievement Award 1 item and 29 teaching achievement awards in Gansu Province.

In 2007, the school successfully passed the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education and achieved excellent results. In 2008, the school was recognized as the first batch of "National Language Standardization Model Schools". The school was awarded the honorary title of "National Model Collective of National Unity and Progress" by the State Council twice and "Advanced Collective of National Unity and Progress in Gansu Province" twice. The College of Life Science and Engineering was awarded the honorary title of "Outstanding Contribution Collective of the National Western Development". From 1990 to 20 12, the school was awarded the "National Advanced Unit of College Students' Social Practice" by the Propaganda Department of the CPC, the Ministry of Education, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the National Federation of Students for eleven consecutive years, and the school debate team won the champion of the "Jincheng" college students' debate competition in the province for three consecutive years.
