Zhuzhou Institute of Technology, the predecessor of Hunan University of Technology, is a university in china national packaging corporation, but it was renamed as China Institute of Packaging Engineering in 1987, that is, the Teaching Guidance Sub-committee of National University Packaging Engineering, the Education Committee of China Packaging Technology Association, China Packaging Technology Research Institute, China Packaging Technology Training Center, China Packaging Design Professional Center, Hunan Packaging Economic Research Base and Hunan Modern Packaging Design Theory and Application Research. Since 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, a new system has been implemented, which is mainly managed by the Hunan Provincial People's Government and jointly established by china national packaging corporation and China Packaging Federation.
Hunan University of Technology ranks first in the country in packaging design, which is obviously better than similar majors of Wuhan University, Beijing Institute of Packaging and Printing and Tianjin University of Science and Technology.
