Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine was founded in 1958, formerly known as Tianjin College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 2005, it was renamed Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 20 17, the school was listed in the national list of "double-first-class" construction universities, and Chinese medicine was selected as the national "double-first-class" construction discipline.
In 2020, the school became a university jointly established by Tianjin Municipal People's Government, Ministry of Education and state administration of traditional chinese medicine. In 2022, he was selected into the second round of "double first-class" universities. The school is the only China International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine approved by the former State Education Commission, and is the chairman of the Education Steering Committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies.
The new campus of the school is located at Tuanbo Lake in Jinghai District, Tianjin, covering an area of more than 2,600 mu and a construction area of more than 600,000 square meters. The campus is characterized by lake landscape, traditional Chinese medicine vegetation and traditional Chinese medicine culture. It is the largest Chinese medicine botanical garden, the most advanced Chinese medicine science and technology park and an international education center of Chinese medicine with international influence in China.
