Southwest University is located at the foot of Jinyun Mountain in Beibei District, Chongqing. The school was formed in 2005 by the merger of Southwest Normal University, a university directly under the former Ministry of Education, and Southwest Agricultural University, a key university directly under the former Ministry of Agriculture.
