Central South University was founded in 2000, located in Changsha City, Hunan Province. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and the central government. It is a "double-class", "985 Project" and "2 1 1 engineering" university. This school was selected into "11/plan", "201/plan", "excellent engineer education and training plan", "excellent legal talent education and training plan" and the national postgraduate plan for building a high-level university. It is one of the five universities in China to implement joint study of bachelor's degree and doctoral degree.
Central South University was formed in April 2000 by the merger of Hunan Medical University, Changsha Railway Institute and Central South University of Technology. Among them, the predecessor of Hunan Medical University is Xiangya Medical College founded by 19 14, the predecessor of Changsha Railway Institute is Zhongnan Institute of Architecture and Engineering founded by 1953, and the predecessor of Central South University of Technology is Zhongnan Institute of Mining and Metallurgy founded by 1952.
