Shanghai University is one of the national "2 1 1 engineering" key universities.

The School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai University focuses on cultivating compound foreign language application talents and language and literature professionals. In 2005, the college won the key construction project of the highland of undergraduate English major education in Shanghai universities. In 2006, it was rated as excellent in the teaching evaluation of undergraduate English major in national colleges and universities.
