The Department of Pediatrics of the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University was established in 1946. Pediatrics has always been the main course and the first-class course teaching and research section of Kunming Medical University. It is an excellent course in Yunnan Province and a key subject of Kunming Medical University. It is the first master's degree program in pediatrics in Yunnan Province, and the only doctoral degree program in pediatrics. ESI ranked in the top 1%, and pediatrics passed the national undergraduate teaching review and evaluation in 20 16 years.
After 72 years' efforts, Yunnan Province has established a complete pediatric medical personnel training system, including undergraduate, master's, doctoral, international students and adult education. Facing the shortage of pediatricians in China, pediatrics actively responded to the call of the state and established pediatrics specialty on 20 17. The purpose is to speed up the training of pediatric professionals and meet the needs of pediatricians in Yunnan Province.
On the basis of specialized courses in clinical medicine, five specialized courses in pediatrics were added, including pediatric internal medicine, pediatric surgery, child health care, infectious diseases in children and neonatology, so as to cultivate high-quality pediatric medical professionals who can engage in pediatrics and child health care or medical research.

There are 56 full-time teachers in pediatrics, with a reasonable age structure, with an average age of 37, 9 with senior titles (26.8%), 7 with intermediate titles (12.5%) and 34 with junior titles (60.7%). Master's degree or above accounts for 75%, of which doctoral degree accounts for 5.4%; Doctoral tutor 1 person, 7 master tutor; The ratio of students to teachers is 4.6: 1.

Among the teachers, there are 3 provincial academic leaders, 3 backbone teachers, 9 returned overseas students and more than 20 overseas students. Pediatric teachers have formed an academic team and talent echelon with reasonable age structure.

Pediatric students enter the second grade, and the proportion of using national planning textbooks is 100%. Make full use of the teaching funds of provincial-level top-quality courses, high-quality network demonstration courses and mixed courses of pediatrics specialty, actively carry out the construction of pediatrics specialty, and build a curriculum system combining classroom with extracurricular, online and offline.
Adhere to earmarking, strictly implement the financial management system and other related management systems, and ensure the standardized use of teaching funds. Teaching practice includes: basic experiment, probation and practice, and social practice.
