Columbia University (full name: new york Columbia University) is a private research university located in new york, USA, and one of the Ivy League schools.

It was established in 1754 according to the king's charter issued by King George II of England, and was named King's College. It is the oldest area in the American continent, Manhattan's Morning Heights, near the Hudson River, north of Central Park.
