The laboratory has three stable core research directions: intelligent computing theory and technology, network computing and information processing technology, and network virtual reality technology. Some of the research achievements in the above-mentioned stable direction have reached the domestic leading level, which has attracted close attention from international counterparts, and the overall research level in all directions is at the leading level in the province. According to the discipline construction of the universities, seven main research direction teams, such as intelligent computing and bioinformatics, network service and cloud computing, human-computer interaction technology, pattern recognition and computer vision, data mining and knowledge discovery, Internet of Things and embedded computing, and high-performance and scientific computing services, have been established as the main research directions of the laboratory. 1995, the laboratory took the lead in independently building a large-scale campus network in the whole province, and undertook nearly 70 national 863 projects, national natural science foundation and provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, with a total research expenditure exceeding180,000 yuan. The laboratory has made great efforts in network architecture, network security, distributed information processing, computing intelligence and application, intelligent information processing, graphic image processing, virtual reality, cement hydration process simulation and other technologies. In recent five years, he has won two first prizes, four second prizes and three third prizes for scientific and technological progress in Shandong Province, the third prize for natural science in Shandong Province 1, the first prize for outstanding achievements in higher education in Shandong Province 1, the first prize for provincial teaching achievements in postgraduate education in Shandong Province 1, and the first prize for outstanding achievements in computer application in Shandong Province1. He has published more than 465,438+00 academic papers in famous academic journals at home and abroad, such as Pattern Recognition, Information Science, Automation, China Science and famous international academic conferences such as IEEE, IFAC, IFIP and ACM. The room for scientific research, experiment and office in the laboratory is about 3,300 square meters, including the room for scientific researchers 1.500 square meters, the postgraduate research room 1.360 square meters, and the reference room and academic lecture hall are 440 square meters. The laboratory has a high-performance computing platform consisting of Dawning 3000, Dawning 4000L, Inspur Tissot 10000 cluster, IBM Power6 minicomputer and Inspur Eternal Trillion Desktop Supercomputing. , with a computing power of 4 trillion times per second. It has server systems of well-known brands such as SUN, HP and Inspur, network equipment of many internationally renowned manufacturers such as Cisco and Alcatel, protocol analysis, logic analyzer and cable testing equipment of Fluke and HP. The laboratory staff consists of fixed teaching and research personnel, visiting researchers, experimental technicians and management personnel. At present, there are 50 researchers, 33 of whom have doctorates. The laboratory implements an open, mobile and joint operation and management mechanism, integrates scientific research and personnel training, and mainly undertakes applied basic research and high-tech development projects in the fields of computer network and intelligent computing, giving priority to national projects and enterprise scientific research projects with important application value. The laboratory has formed its own research characteristics and made some theoretical breakthroughs in the following aspects: (1) The theoretical research results of hierarchical computing intelligence have been highly concerned and recognized by international peers; (2) Network-based modeling and simulation of cement materials, together with NIST and Delft University in the Netherlands, form a "tripartite confrontation" trend in the same field; (3) The research on the key technology of 3D hand tracking has broken through the traditional 2D model, and many research results have attracted the attention of peers and enterprises in the field, but there are still some shortcomings in introducing high-level academic leaders in the laboratory. Shandong province domestic database research center
Supported by the National 863 Program, Shandong Domestic Database Engineering Technology Research Center has developed a series of application systems for the education industry by using three domestic database products selected by the state. Among them, the system of educational administration and students' course selection in colleges and universities has been popularized and applied in nearly 10 colleges and universities inside and outside the province, and "Computer Grade Examination and Automatic Marking System Based on Windows" has become the software designated by Shandong Provincial Department of Education to be used in the computer grade examination in colleges and universities in the province. The above achievements * * * won two second prizes for outstanding teaching achievements in Shandong Province. Based on J2EE architecture, "Shandong Primary and Secondary School Campus Network Application Platform" has been popularized and applied in more than 200 primary and secondary schools in the province, and achieved good results. With the support of the National 863 Plan and the Shandong Science and Technology Development Plan, this direction will devote itself to the popularization and application of domestic databases in education informatization, and successfully complete the goals set by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the 863 Plan Expert Group.

Jinan University is a comprehensive university approved by the Ministry of Education, with a provincial and municipal management system. The school focuses on undergraduate education, actively develops postgraduate education, and recruits students for employment nationwide. As the research center of database application engineering technology in our province, the main task of the center is to combine the needs of education informatization and manufacturing informatization in our province, closely cooperate with universities, enterprises and institutions inside and outside the province, actively carry out scientific research and technology development, strive to build a technical service system and cultivate informatization talents, and accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into productive forces. After about five years of construction, the engineering technology center will reach the first-class level of similar engineering technology centers in China.
The center successfully completed the goal stipulated in the National 863 Plan "Shandong Domestic Database Information Integration Platform and Its Demonstration", which made our province enter the forefront of domestic database application demonstration provinces; Earnestly complete the national natural science foundation, provincial key research projects and other important scientific research projects, strive for new breakthroughs in the corresponding fields, and actively strive to undertake national scientific research projects in the next few years to maintain the domestic advanced level of educational informatization in our province.
In view of the application and promotion of domestic databases, the Provincial Department of Education has officially issued the Code for the Construction of Information System Platforms for Cities and Primary and Secondary Schools in Shandong Province, and the application of domestic databases and related software has also been included. The Engineering Technology Center will fully cooperate with the above work, actively promote the formulation and implementation of relevant standards under the unified leadership of the Provincial Department of Education, and make efforts for the standardization and standardization of educational informatization in our province. At the same time, starting from the education industry, different types of application systems are established by using domestic database products recommended by the National 863 Plan. On this basis, it will be gradually extended to other industries, providing solutions with different application backgrounds for users in different industries, enterprises and institutions by means of overall sales, platform rental or platform technology transfer, and pushing the research results of the subject to many industries in the province.
On June 5438+ 10, 2005, the national "863" project "Key Application Demonstration of Database Management System in Shandong Province" passed the acceptance of experts from the Ministry of Science and Technology, passed the dispatching evaluation, and passed the provincial appraisal together with "Series Software Development and Application Demonstration Based on Domestic Database". The Computer Software Experiment Center of Information College is divided into two computer rooms: the East Campus and the West Campus. The computer room of the East Campus is located on the fourth floor of the East Comprehensive Building. There are 360 microcomputers, of which 260 can be used by credit card. Mainly responsible for the computer experiment of the public course of computer culture foundation in East Campus. The computer room of the West Campus is located on the fourth, fifth and sixth floors of the new information building. There are two large computer rooms on each floor, each of which can accommodate 270 computers. The center covers an area of 3,500 square meters, manages equipment assets of 1.2 million yuan, and has a total of 1.26 million computers. There are 1600 microcomputers for students to swipe their cards, all of which are computers above P4 level, including 540 dual-core microcomputers.
The hardware experiment center of School of Information is located on the second, third and eighth floors of School of Information. Mainly responsible for all hardware experiments and related internships of computer science and technology, electronic information, communication and network engineering in the School of Information. The center consists of two laboratories: principle laboratory, digital logic laboratory, embedded system laboratory, comprehensive R&D open laboratory, high frequency circuit laboratory, signal and system laboratory, EDA laboratory, communication principle laboratory, optical fiber communication laboratory, program-controlled switching laboratory, DSP laboratory and computer network experiment laboratory, covering an area of 1000 square meters and managing equipment assets of 3.3 million yuan.

"FPGA Joint Laboratory" is jointly established by School of Information Science and Engineering of Jinan University and American Xilinx Company (Xilinx). Joined the plan of Xilinx University, and got great support from Xilinx Company in terms of experimental equipment and development tools. It has a series of FPGA evaluation boards, development tools, comprehensive experimental platforms and genuine development tools from Xilinx.
The joint laboratory provides advanced FPGA teaching, experiment and technology development environment for teachers and students, and undertakes the experimental teaching and scientific research of FPGA technology courses for electronic information, computer science and technology, information engineering, software engineering, intelligence science and technology and other related majors in the school. The research focus of the joint laboratory is ASIC design and FPGA application, mainly including the following main directions: large-scale network security IC design, dedicated embedded processor design, intelligent computing ASIC design.
The joint laboratory actively carries out school-enterprise cooperation, advanced development equipment and professional technicians enable the joint laboratory to provide technical support and services for FPGA software and hardware and product development for the general public in the industry.

During the Ninth Five-Year Plan period, the school attached great importance to the investment of scientific research equipment in key laboratories. In 2002, the first Dawning -3000 mainframe computer in the high-performance computing center was installed in the whole province. The first batch was equipped with six high-performance nodes and a 32-node C- 1700, HP and Inspur cluster system, and distributed parallel computing exceeded1000 billion times. The Dawning 4000 mainframe computer equipped in 2005 can provide 500 billion times of computing power.
In a heterogeneous environment, the basic platform of cement simulation grid based on Globus is constructed and deployed, which has a computing capacity of 560 billion times per second and a storage capacity of 10tb. On this platform, application resources such as cement simulation application, quantum chemical calculation, computational intelligence aided design and so on are encapsulated, and grid services in many fields are carried out.
Simulation application of (1) cement material
Computer simulation of cement hydration process and its microstructure is an important part of computational materials science. Hydration of cement is a very complicated physical and chemical change process, and the digital representation of cement particles becomes very complicated due to uneven particle size (large difference), complex shape and many things being equal. It is of great practical significance to study the hydration and hardening process, hydration products and the composition and structure of hardened cement paste for the production and use of cement. Summarizing the previous research results, we have been able to reconstruct the three-dimensional microstructure on the basis of two-dimensional scanning electron microscope images and X-ray images, and use the cellular automata theory combined with the physical and chemical laws of hydration to simulate the microscopic process of cement hydration in three dimensions, revealing the relationship between microstructure and properties, and providing us with a method and tool for analyzing and designing cement materials. However, the localization of particle reaction and the complexity of environmental factors in the hydration process determine that the simulation process must be a process with high computational intensity, and the parallel cooperation of multiple computing nodes is needed to reproduce the hydration reaction process more truly. The cement building materials simulation grid platform of Jinan University provides a safe and efficient computing platform for cement hydration process and two-dimensional image processing, and a good computing environment for our scientific research.
(2) Application of quantum chemical calculation
Quantum chemistry is a branch of theory, the basic principle and method of applied quantum mechanics, and the basic subject of studying chemical problems. The research scope of quantum chemistry includes the structure and properties of stable and unstable molecules, and the relationship between structure and properties; Interactions between molecules; Molecules collide and react with each other. Quantum chemistry can be divided into two categories: basic research and applied research. The basic research is mainly to seek its own laws and establish the multi-body method and calculation method of quantum chemistry. Applied research is to deal with chemical problems with quantum chemistry and explain chemical phenomena with the structure of quantum chemistry.
The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering is one of the key departments of our school, mainly engaged in the calculation and simulation of biological theoretical chemistry, environmental gas chemistry and the design of functional material molecules. The initial calculation is carried out on an ordinary desktop computer with Gaussian98 program and auxiliary software. Although some achievements have been made, due to the limitation of computer configuration and running speed, many programs can not get good results, and some programs have seriously affected the overall work because of the long running time of a single machine. Using Gaussian03 computing environment on the grid computing platform of Jinan University has improved the running speed of the program and achieved many important results. Published more than ten related academic papers, many of which were included by SCI and EI, which greatly promoted the research process of many topics.
(3) Computer Intelligent Aided Design Application
Computational Intelligence Laboratory is one of the key laboratories of Jinan University. Its main research directions include evolutionary computation, neural networks and fuzzy systems. The computational intelligence laboratory has made great achievements in the fields of signal processing, intelligent control, pattern recognition, machine vision, nonlinear optimization, automatic target recognition, knowledge processing and remote sensing technology.
In recent years, the research group has been engaged in complex evolutionary optimization problems, neural networks and fuzzy systems. In the application of neural network, the main problem is that when the learning samples reach an order of magnitude and the input of neural network increases, it takes a long training time and even fails to achieve ideal results. Fuzzy system and neuro-fuzzy system face similar problems, that is, when the number of inputs of fuzzy system increases, the number of fuzzy rules will increase exponentially, which will lead to the failure of the whole fuzzy system running on a single CPU. Through the intelligent grid service platform of Jinan University, the computing speed has been accelerated, and remarkable results have been achieved, which has promoted the research process of our laboratory. The research group has published many academic papers in relevant international and domestic academic conferences and journals.
(4) Network traffic monitoring and complete analysis
As the teaching, scientific research and network construction and management department in the field of computer network in our university, the network center mainly undertakes the construction and maintenance of campus backbone network and digital campus data center, and undertakes some tasks of undergraduate and postgraduate training in information science. In the cement material simulation grid project, the network center participated in the testing of cement material simulation computing platform, quantum chemical computing platform and computing intelligent simulation platform. After testing, the grid service platform has good user interface, reasonable system architecture, balanced system load and good running speed. It can provide a scientific computing platform for the research and development of cement materials, the calculation of quantum chemistry and the related learning problems of computational intelligence. At the same time, with the advantage of network resources of the platform and network center, we can monitor the traffic, analyze the network security behavior, and provide services for users in the school.
