Assiut University has 16 departments, two colleges and 20 specialized institutions. The departments of New Valley Province include science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, commerce, education, law, physical education, social work, art, nursing education, computer and information science and education departments. Two institutions of higher learning, namely Institute of Sugar Technology and South Egypt Cancer Institute. The university offers more than 200 undergraduate and postgraduate courses in art, science and technology. Many academic centers also belong to the specific goal-oriented function of big cities.
