Second, the predecessor of the School of Political Science and Law is the Department of Political Economy of the Academy of Social Sciences of Northeastern University. 1948 was born in the special period when the people's liberation war was promoted to the whole country, and it was one of the earliest teaching departments in the school. 1950 After the school was renamed Northeast Normal University, the Department of Political Economy was renamed the Department of Political Science, which was directly led by the school. 1955 in order to meet the needs of the development of national basic education, a political education department was established on the basis of the former political department, mainly to train political teachers. 1986, in order to meet the needs of economic construction, the school decided to set up the Department of Economic Management on the basis of the Department of Economics of the Political and Educational Affairs Office, which is now the School of Economics and the Business School of Northeast Normal University. 1994 after the addition of the undergraduate major of law in our department, the original department of political education was renamed the College of Political Science and Law from 1998.

The college has five undergraduate majors: ideological and political education, law, administration, international politics, political science and administration, among which three majors are provincial-level specialties; It has the right to award master's degrees in three first-level disciplines: law, political science and public administration, among which two first-level disciplines, political science and law, are provincial-level dominant key disciplines; The college has the right to award professional degrees of Master of Management (MPA), Master of Law (JM) and Master of Education, and has corresponding professional degree education centers. It has the right to award doctoral degrees in the first-class discipline of political science, and has four doctoral programs in two disciplines, including political theory, Chinese and foreign party history, domestic and foreign political system, legal politics, and post-doctoral research stations in political science.
