There are six universities in Shangqiu, namely Shangqiu Teachers College, Shangqiu Institute of Technology, Shangqiu University, Shangqiu Vocational and Technical College, Shangqiu Medical College and Yongcheng Vocational College.

Shangqiu Institute of Technology, located in Shangqiu City, Henan Province, is a local and applied provincial-level private undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education.

The school was established in April of 1994, 20 1 1. With the approval of the Ministry of Education, Shangqiu Institute of Technology was established on the basis of the former Shangqiu Vocational College of Science and Technology, and full-time undergraduate education was implemented.
